Museum rules of conduct
Dear Visitors,
The Franz Marc Museum is the custodian of the unique works of art on its premises. The management of the Franz Marc Museum exercises the right to impose rules of conduct on the property and within the premises and may extend the right to impose rules of conduct to further authorised individuals. Our museum staff are instructed to ensure these rules are followed. Please follow their orders if you are requested to show consideration. Visitors may be denied entry if there are justified grounds for assuming they will disrupt the museum’s operations or disturb other visitors. Entry may further be denied to visitors who have infringed these rules of conduct. An exclusion order will be announced and notified in writing.
Visitors must not touch the artworks. Visitors will be held liable (within statutory limits) for all damage caused by their conduct.
Bulky items such as backpacks, bags and outerwear (e.g. bulky winter jackets) represent a security risk and must be stored in our lockers during your visit. No liability is accepted for items left in the cloakroom. Handbags up to A4 size may be taken into the exhibition. They must be carried at the front of the body. In case of doubt, the decision by the museum staff or reception staff is final. Coats and jackets may be worn in the exhibition but not carried.
Umbrellas, sticks, cycle helmets and similar items may not be taken into the exhibition. Walking aids are naturally permitted. Animals (with the exception of guide dogs) are not permitted inside the museum.
We are committed to introducing even our youngest visitors to art. Buggies are welcome after a brief inspection by our reception staff. We are happy to lend out a buggy on request.
We are delighted to welcome you and your children to the museum! However, children may not yet be familiar with the safety and security requirements of a museum. With this in mind, please do not leave children under 12 unattended. Please do not carry your child on your back or shoulders in the exhibition spaces, but hold the child in front of you.
Depending on the specifications governing loan works, photography and filming may be prohibited. In this case, please observe the relevant warning signs. Photography and filming are otherwise permitted for personal use without flash or equipment such as tripods or selfie sticks. However, please note that publication of photographic material on the Internet or on social media does not constitute personal use and may infringe copyright law. Photography and filming for professional and commercial purposes require written permission from the museum.
Writing and drawing are only permitted with pencils or crayons in the exhibition spaces. Smoking is prohibited throughout the entire museum buildings.
No food or beverages may be taken into the exhibition spaces. You are welcome to use the basement service area and the foyer to consume your own food, or visit our cafe on the ground floor.
Please help us in our efforts to protect and preserve the artworks. Our museum staff are responsible for the safety and security of the artworks. Please follow their instructions. Thank you for your understanding and your compliance with the museum rules of conduct.
