The Franz Marc Museum is a private museum. The successful symbiosis of architecture and art provides visitors with a unique opportunity to admire the works of Franz Marc and the ‘Blauer Reiter’ artists in the landscape in which they were created. Visitors are, therefore, cordially invited to enter into a personal dialogue with the works in our collection.
You can reach us from Munich or Garmisch Partenkirchen via the A 95 motorway, exit 10 Murnau / Kochel. From there, it is approx. 9 km to Kochel. From the direction of Bad Tölz, take the B 472 and the B 11 to Kochel. In Kochel itself, follow signs to the museum.
Car parking is available off the B 11 opposite the lake on Mittenwalder Strasse (P1). Footpath through Franz Marc Park to the museum: 5 mins. P2, for coaches and cars, is directly on the lakeside, also reached off the B 11 (Mittenwalder Strasse). Footpath through Franz Marc Park to the museum: 10 mins. P1 may of course be used as a drop-off point before parking on P2.
There is no tourist tax to be paid when visiting the museum.
Parking spaces for disabled visitors are located behind the museum building, Franz Marc Park 8-10.
Access is via Alte Strasse and Rothenberg Süd.
Hourly train service between Munich and Kochel (https://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/).
Signposted route on foot from the station to the museum, approx. 15 mins.

Between Easter and September the ferry, the ‘Herzogstand’, stops at the jetty ‘Franz-Marc-Museum’. A tour of the lake can be combined with a visit to the museum. The combined ticket ‘Schiff & Museum’ includes a round trip of Lake Kochel and entrance to the Franz Marc Museum. The round trip can be interrupted to visit the museum and then continued later.
