As a doctor of art history, Cathrin Klingsöhr-Leroy specialises in Classical Modern art. In 1993/94 she was involved in the conceptual organisation of the exhibition ‘From Klee to Poliakoff. The Etta and Otto Stangl Collection’ in Munich and Münster. As curator at the Bayerische Staatsgemäldesammlungen she was responsible for numerous exhibitions of the affiliated Fritz Winter Foundation, including one on Fritz Winter and Franz Marc’s war drawings, and on the importance of the ZEN 49 group fifty years after its founding. She has published several books and essays on well-known artists such as Lovis Corinth, Lyonel Feininger, Naum Gabo, Hans Arp and Paul Klee. Her publication ‘Zwischen den Zeilen. Dokumente zu Franz Marc’ was written in close cooperation with the Etta and Otto Stangl Foundation and the new Franz Marc Museum, of which she is now director.
